INTERNSHIPS
Fundraising/PR/Audience Programs Intern
Intern will divide their time between the Development, Audience Programs and Communication departments. This internship will introduce you to all aspects of non-profit development, ranging from foundations and corporations to individual donors as well as expose you to communications for the theatre and non-profit arena in all forms of media. This internship will also offer the opportunity to work Free Night of Theater, TCG's national audience development program. Responsibilities will include proposal preparation, correspondence with funders, prospect research, proofreading, writing press releases, maintaining relationships with key media, and managing correspondence with member theatres involved in audience development campaigns. Candidate must have good computer skills; a strong attention to detail; excellent writing and communication skills; the ability and attitude to work in close collaboration; and a knowledge of (and interest in) theatre.
National Conference Intern
The National Conference Intern will assist with all planning, correspondence, registrant materials and other logistics for TCG’s annual National Conference, which will be held in Baltimore in June 2009. He or she will attend the conference as a staff member of TCG, and will be an integral part of the planning team, working with TCG staff and board members as well as professionals in the theatre field. This internship is best for someone who wants to have access to a broad range of theatre companies and artists and to gain an understanding of the issues facing the national theatre field. The ideal candidate is organized and detail-oriented, able to think quickly on his or her feet and fluent in Microsoft Word and Excel.
International Programs
Intern will provide administrative support and research on cultural and artistic exchange opportunities for professional theatre practitioners. Responsibilities include assisting the coordination of national gatherings, administration of grant programs, developing online resources and attending staff and project meetings as necessary. International theatre experience and proficiency of other languages is desired, but not required.
Web Intern
TCG's website provides support for all of TCG's programs and services, which makes the web internship an ideal way to learn about all of the departments and offerings at TCG. Responsibilities are diverse, but focus is on editing and adding content to the TCG website. Position will gain exposure to HTML, CSS, javascript and ColdFusion technologies. Seeking a candidate with keen problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and a comfortable knowledge of basic HTML.
American Theatre Magazine/Publications
Intern's responsibilities will include working with the editorial, design and production staff of the magazine, with the possibility of some writing assignments. Candidate must have strong journalism skills. Intern will also work with the book program, assisting in editorial duties, maintaining database, inputting and proofreading manuscripts. Must have good computer skills and a strong attention to detail.
Artistic Programs
Intern will provide administrative support for department that addresses the needs of both theatre institutions and individual artists. Responsibilities include assisting in the administration of grant and fellowship programs and with the logistics for national forums and artist roundtables, maintaining departmental files and attending staff and project meetings as necessary.
Management Programs & Advocacy/Education Programs
Intern will provide administrative support for both the management and advocacy/education departments. Various duties include compiling financial, productivity and topical research, special events coordination, publication responsibilities, assistance with advocacy on various legislative issues, attending staff and project meetings as necessary and general departmental operations support.
