TCG Events
TCG regularly convenes various meetings throughout the country, bringing theatre professionals together and encouraging them to explore significant issues, to share their knowledge and experience and to learn from one another and those in related fields. As the primary representative of the not-for-profit theatre field, TCG often collaborates with organizations in other disciplines to develop interdisciplinary conferences and forums.
ITI World Theatre Day
sATURday, MARCH 27TH, 2010
World Theatre Day was created in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute and is celebrated around the world on March 27. An annual highlight of the celebrations is a message delivered by a theatre personality from the international community.
The first World Theatre Day International Message was written by Jean Cocteau in 1962. This year ITI asked Dame Judi Dench to write the World Theatre Day Message. Dench’s statement will be translated into more than 20 languages, distributed to tens of thousands of audiences prior to performances, printed in hundreds of daily newspapers, and heard on countless radio and television stations.
This year TCG/ ITI-U.S. has also invited Lynn Nottage, winner of the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Ruined, to issue her remarks on the occasion.
Additional information including ways for the US community to participate and copies of both speeches will be made available by March 12, 2010. For a summary of previous World Theatre Day activities, please visit: World Theatre Day 2009
